One of the must-see spots is theItalian Embassy in France, which will be unveiled on Saturday, September 20. Located in theHôtel de Boisgelin (or de La Rochefoucauld-Doudeauville or de Janvry), an elegant mansion in the 7th arrondissement built in 1732 by architect Jean-Sylvain Cartaud, this jewel of Parisian heritage has survived the centuries and belonged to such great figures as Cardinal de Boisgelin and the Duc de Doudeauville. Transformed in the late 19th century, it features a polychrome marble staircase inspired by Versailles, a winter garden, a chapel and woodwork from the Château de Bercy.
Since 1938, the hotel has been home to theItalian Embassy, in return for the French Embassy's use of the Farnese Palace in Rome. On this exclusive tour, you'll discover a sumptuous blend of Italian art and French heritage, with some areas listed as Monuments Historiques.
Self-guided tour of the rooms of the Embassy Residence (first floor, second floor and garden). Lasting around 45 minutes, the tour follows a signposted route. In addition to a historical-artistic presentation brochure that can be downloaded by smartphone using a Qr-code, signs will be available in the rooms throughout the tour.
